Very early on, Joel Benhamou was bitten by the community involvement bug through the Jewish Scout movement EEIF, which he joined at a young age becoming a leader and educator. To this day, he has kept an unconditional attachment for the EEIF. In parallel, he embarked on a double path: pursuing a degree and career in high-tech, where he held positions of leadership in international structures, and learning Jewish studies under some of the great figures of French Jewry, such as Rav Eliahou Abitbol, founder of the Student Yeshiva of Strasbourg in 1968. in turn, Joël Benhamou founded the Student Yeshiva of Marseille in 2005 through which he promotes a non-dogmatic, open and intellectually demanding approach to Judaism. This action radiates well beyond Marseilles, and its programs have spread to Paris, Neuilly and Luxembourg.

French Judaism has not taken a particular interest in students and in the imperative need to bring them closer to the community so that they may discover the treasures of Jewish culture.
The initiative to create HILEL CAMPUS comes at the right time and we wish it a great success in order to guarantee the succession of the community leadership in the upcoming years.
